Meet Jasmin of Finding Fate!
Location: Vienna, Austria
How long have you been blogging?
What or who inspired you to become a fashion blogger? What led you to it?
Long time before I started blogging, I followed many other blogs and tried to take some risks in dressing. At the time, I made many bad dressing choices, but you can learn a lot from them.
But frankly, I started the blog together with my best friend Beatrice (we met in school and have being inseparable since) to feel more comfortable about my body and size and to show myself that I can look good with my weight. Now it’s a whole expression of myself, my thoughts, wishes, style and ideas – I love that!
Do you blog full-time, for fun, as a hobby? Share your evolution!
For two years now, we have kept up our blog in addition to studying and working, which is quite hard… but for us, blogging is so much more than a hobby.
With time, not only did our blog and readers grow but also our love and determination for our blog, and we both would love to make a real job out of it – let’s see what the future holds.
What is your favorite asset? Your legs, arms, waist? How do you play that up?
My face. That is the one thing I love most about myself and often get compliments from other people. So I love to play with up-dos and get my face in the spotlight.
What are the challenges, if any, you face regarding being plus size and petite?
With both being quite small and plus size, it’s really hard to find good jeans or pants. But I really have a thing for drainpipe jeans or body-con pants – who says you can wear them only when you’re a special size?? Another problem I’m also facing especially in Austria is finding unique or trendy pieces in my size. This is not just for plus size clothes but it’s a bit more difficult when you look for culottes or crop tops in a bigger size in Vienna because most plus size women stick to clothes like they want to hide themselves and their curves. So, I often have to default to ordering online.
What’s your favorite thing about being plus size?
The possibility to not only inspire my readers, mostly young girls, to be more confident about themselves, but also to help them to go through hard times by showing them that it’s not always easy but you get stronger with each problem AND it’s okay to love yourself the way you are.
I find it also great to be able to show people that being plus size can mean so much more than the usual pants/shirt/cardigan combination and that you are definitely not any less of a woman if plus size.
What’s your favorite thing about being a blogger?
As mentioned above, for one thing I love to inspire my readers to be more confident and also to play with their silhouettes. Another great thing is to meet other people with the same interests and exchange with people worldwide.
Who/what are your favorite designers/brands?
Of course I love Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Elie Saab, and Chanel but being a student means a little less budget, so I often shop at ASOS, New Look and Zara. Oh and I love IvyRevel!!
Describe your personal style.
Casual with an elegant touch. I love to play with things and mix up styles and fabrics.
Which bloggers inspire you? Plus or straight size! Any bloggers currently on your radar?
I have a long list of bloggers I follow since they are a great inspiration, but my all time favorites are Swedish blogger Kenza Zouiten, and Negin Mirsalehi from Amsterdam.Oh, and I recently discovered Tanesha Awasthi from GirlWithCurves. I love her feminine style and her beautiful A-line skirts.
What do you think about where plus size fashion is today versus a few years back?
It’s getting better each year but at a very slow pace. Now mostly all big retail brand offer great basics for plus size women, but when it comes to special pieces or high-end stores, there’s still a long way to go.
What do you think or hear from readers, is one of the biggest myths about plus size fashion?
That we want to hide or don’t like anything about ourselves, but there are always things to love about yourself.
Are you working on anything or have anything to share? Anything else you want The Curvy Fashionista’s readers to know?
We recently started a YouTube channel! To follow us daily you can also go to our Instagram Account at @findingfate We’re happy for any comment, like or follow and love to get to know you as well.
